Biography

 

Elissa Marian Tuerk is a Philadelphia based multi-disciplinary artist.  She received a Certificate in Photography and an Associates degree in Fine Arts from Delaware County Community College in 2011 and 2012.  While attending community college, she was awarded Academic Achievement awards in both Art and Humanities.  Her artwork was featured in seven exhibitions at the school; during the 2010 Student Art Exhibition, her photograph was given the purchase award and was added to the school’s permanent collection; during the school’s Annual Student Photography Exhibit in 2011, Elissa was awarded the Honorable Mention award.

In September of 2012, Elissa transferred to Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia, to which she received the Board of Trustees Scholarship.  In March of 2014, Elissa and nine of her classmates were accepted into the San Francisco Disposable Film Festival for a collaborative animation.  Her work has been exhibited in several shows, including Convergence (September 2014) and Merge (March 2015), both in Philadelphia.  In April 2015, during Moore’s Senior Thesis Exhibit, Elissa’s thesis project, Rock and Vitrine in Conflict, was awarded the QVC Award for Professional Presentation and Accomplishment in Photography and Digital Art.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Photography and Digital Arts and a Minor in Business from Moore College of Art & Design in May 2015.  In July 2015, she exhibited, with six other artists, in the second annual Emerging Talent Exhibition at Seraphin Gallery in Philadelphia.  Her first solo show, Interlude, opens at Seraphin Gallery in March 2016.
